WE WILL REMEMBER - Single Page Layout
(More Than Words DT - May Main Challenge
& Words & Paintery May Challenge)

I got punked this month by the More Than Words Main Challenge...
steampunked, that is! :P  And this is what I created in the process.

Last month, at More Than Words, we celebrated mothers,
so this month we celebrate fathers with of course, as always, a creative twist!
Word Inspiration - FATHER
Creative Challenge - STEAMPUNK

You can find all you need to know about this challenge and the fabulous prizes
up for grabs as well as inspiration from the very talented MTW DT right HERE.

Along with the challenge above, I was also inspired by
the May challenge at Words & Paintery right HERE.
This gorgeous color palette was just the right fit for my steampunk layout!

For my More Than Words DT reveal this month, I intended to create a page about my FATHER. However, while looking through my 'to scrap' photo box, I found this photo of my maternal grandfather and thought it would be perfect for the creative challenge.

As far as the creative challenge is concerned, I went STEAMPUNK by adding to my page lots of cogs and gears, some metal and some chipboard, as well as a fancy mustache and a top hat brad.

Inspired by the Words & Paintery palette, I used different mediums from embossing powder
to metallic paint to distress ink to more embossing powder to make my chippies 'rust'.

I even added metallic copper paint on the flowers
and colored some of the metal accents from silver to bronze.

The papers from the Blue Fern Studios' Artisan Chesterville collection
were absolutely great for this layout.  I added some stenciling work with blue paint
and then sprayed on some light turquoise green mist here and there.

Pepere Allard was very young during this pose, long before I came into the world,
and I so wish I could have known him then. I knew him as a big burly man who was
renowned for his loud laugh, his wooden cane and his beautiful vegetable garden.

Sadly, he passed away when I was just 15.

I will always hold this page dear to my heart, just as I do my grandfather.

Thank you for visiting!
